CLUBS AND ORGANIZATIONS


Anime Club
Advisor: Kyle Bergman 
Come hang out with a group of students who enjoy watching anime together on Thursdays.

 

Culture Club
Advisor: Sam Gamertsfelder
Engages in dialogue about black culture and relevant cultural issues, plans to develop and share resources related to black culture for Black History Month, and possibly a future black culture gallery or showcase. 

 

Cruiser Theatre Company
Advisor: Erin Gaffis
The Cruiser Theatre Company located at Groveport Madison High School gives students the opportunity to present high-quality theatre to the community with multiple fully-staged productions over the course of the year. Our season consists of a fall play, a spring musical, one play-in-a-day (Full productions put together in twenty-four hours), and a variation of other programming. As a theatre company, we are constantly striving to present quality programming to the community, while also looking for ways to give back.

 

Dungeons & Dragons Club
Advisor: Tim Culver 
Students create characters based on Dungeons and Dragons attributes and run campaigns. Fantasy-based.

Key Club
Advisor: Virginia Rogers   
Key Club is an organization starting this year at GMHS that allows high school students to build leadership skills through community service projects, all while having fun with your friends.  Our first meeting will take place on Tuesday, September 10th after school in Room 256 from 2:30-3:30.

 

National Honor Society
Advisor: Jared Painter 
The National Honor Society (NHS) is an organization that works to promote Character, Scholarship, Leadership, and Service. NHS puts on several events to support the community along with working to raise funds for charitable causes. Additionally, members of NHS get involved in their own personal service projects, allowing them to not only contribute to others but grow as an individual. Incoming members must be invited and accepted by the faculty board (members must have a 3.7 cumulative GPA). 

 

Project 7
Advisor: Andrea Taynor
This club is a resource to help you connect with your peers while developing an understanding of how to connect with God. We will learn about self-esteem moral foundations to help be successful. This club gives opportunity to volunteer in the community and joins together for social outings. We meets every Thursday from 2:10 p.m. to 3:10 p.m. in room 253.

 

Ruling Our eXperiences (ROX)
Advisor: Colleen Reinoehl
Advisor: Ashley Hansen 
ROX is a 20-week program for female high school students aimed at equipping girls with the knowledge and skills necessary to live healthy, indpendent, productive and violence-free lives. In this group, we will focus on many topics, some of them including: healthy communication, healthy relationships, body image, safety and violence prevention, stress and coping, and leadership. Space is limited – Registration will begin in November.

 

Senior Committee
Advisor: Ben Weinhold 
Organize, fund, and schedule social activities for the senior class in order to build school morale and community. 

 

Ski Club
Advisor: 
Ski Club visits Mad River Mountain once a week (for six weeks) in the months of January and February. Students enjoy skiing, snowboarding, and chilling out in the lodge. 

 

Spanish Club
Advisor: Caitlin Porterfield 
Spanish club meets every week on the first Tuesday of the month in room 130. Anyone interested in Hispanic culture is welcome! We learn about the culture of several countries, from customs to food, preparing authentic food to taste, and making crafts. Once every couple of months we visit local Hispanic restaurants.

 

Student Council
Advisor: Devyn Brunner 
This is a service-oritented,  student-led organization in charge of hosting numerous events: dances (homecoming and prom), spirit week activities, fundraising for charitable organizations and other student-centered activities to booster school pride (door decoration contests, powder puff games and staff vs. student events). Members of Student Council must also complete 50 hours of community service per year.

Students must apply to become a member of student council. Applicants must be good students with little to no academic or behavioral problems, have a record of service to others and be good role models in the building and community. Applicants must complete a short application and receive three teacher recommendations. Applications are accepted every spring. This year, we will be accepting applications for freshmen and seniors in mid-September.
